A learning community
XLClass is a learning community. Everyone participating in XLClass should help create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment.
Be respectful
Users must not:
- Bully or intimidate others
- Threaten another person
- Use abusive or offensive language
- Discriminate based on race, culture, religion, gender, disability or other protected characteristics
- Sexually harass another person
- Deliberately embarrass or humiliate students or teachers
Keep communication appropriate
Students and teachers should communicate primarily about classes, assignments, learning, scheduling and course activities. Teachers must maintain professional boundaries with students.
Protect personal information
Users should not publicly share another person’s address, telephone number, email, school details, passwords, financial information, photographs or private communications.
No inappropriate content
The following is not allowed on XLClass:
- Pornographic or sexual content
- Graphic violence
- Hate content
- Illegal material
- Malicious software
- Scams
- Content that encourages dangerous behaviour
No cheating or impersonation
Users must not:
- Pretend to be another person
- Create fraudulent accounts
- Manipulate attendance records
- Misrepresent qualifications
- Submit another person’s work as their own where assessment rules prohibit it
Respect intellectual property
Class materials supplied by XLClass or teachers may be used for personal learning unless otherwise stated. They must not be commercially reproduced, uploaded or distributed without permission.
Consequences
XLClass may:
- Issue a warning
- Remove content
- Restrict communication
- Remove a student from a class
- Suspend an account
- Terminate an account
- Remove a teacher from XLClass
- Refer serious concerns to appropriate authorities
